Epic Games address bizarre BRUTE Mech driftboard glitch

Epic Games has responded to a bizarre tactic that allows players to ride on a teammate’s Driftboard while also operating the BRUTE Mech suit.

Since being released with the start of season ten, the BRUTE mechs have become one of, if not the, most controversial additions to the battle royale title.

We’ve already seen streamers like Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins and Ben ‘DrLupo’ Lupo consider a boycott, fans across the world launching the #RemoveTheMech protest, and even Epic speak out about the vehicle with an initial nerf. However, a brand new strategy has reared its head that could very well turn players away from the game in their droves.

In a post to the FortniteBR subreddit, user badlynameduser, showcased a clip from a stream that showed the BRUTE Mech hop onto a driftboard and move around with quite some speed.

The streamer in question, Nids – who broadcasts on Mixer, went zooming across the map towards the soccer pitch between Tilted Town and Snobby Shores – and she couldn’t stop laughing at how ridiculous it seemed.

Of course, the video in question prompted some backlash from the subreddit, forcing Epic to step in and address the unusual strategy that quite clearly should not be happening in-game.

“Thanks for the video,” posted EmptyTux, a community co-ordinator for Epic. “I’ve sent this off to our QA team for investigation :)” Yet, fans didn’t take too kindly to this and promptly nuked it with downvotes.

With Epic investigating bugs and glitches with the BRUTE Mech, it doesn’t appear as if it will be going away anytime soon – much to the dismay of players across the world, both casual and competitive.

While it may very well be nerfed in the delayed v10.10 patch, whenever that is finally released, it will likely still cause frustrations to Fortnite fans – even if they ramp up their protest and boycott efforts.
